Mo Myra Art: Live Wedding Painting
In 2018 Mo saw a performance by Kate March at the Melanie Carr Gallery in Essex; it was so beautiful and powerful that it inspired her to change the way she thought about her work as a painter and explored what she could do for others. As she drove away from the gallery that night, she realized she could translate a wedding as it was happening into paint, during which people could enjoy the process and watch the painting come to life.. She learned it is the most authentic way to capture a wedding. Since that night, live wedding painting has become a growing trend but- for Mo - it has been a passion and a way to provide her couples with a unique piece of custom fine art and an experience they’ll never forget. Why Choose Live Wedding Painting? More Importantly, What Is It? Live wedding painting is just that: a custom fine art painting of your wedding day, painted in person. Mo meets with each couple and discusses the scene that they want to have painted. From there, Mo will attend your wedding and paint it as you and you and your guests watch it come to life. What Makes Mo Different From Other Live Painters? Mo has dedicated her life to fine art. She is an international award winning fine artist and every live wedding painting she creates receives the same care and attention to detail as her fine art work. She has studied with classically trained artists and she is a full-time fine artist represented by Abend Gallery in Colorado. Live wedding painting is another one of her passions. She is also a practiced plein-air painter (outdoor painter) who has been juried into competitions with many of the top artists painting today. This type of painting translates beautifully for the live wedding painting experience since she is capturing the essence of the moment, the likeness of the couple and the atmosphere of the day. Her live wedding paintings are never rushed to completion at the end of the night, and are treated like the piece of fine art that they are. Mo believes that every wedding has its own energy and when painting, she is accurately studying the look, feel and emotion of the moment, bringing it to life with every brush stroke. Where Does Mo Paint Weddings? She paints weddings all throughout New England and beyond. Mo is located in Connecticut, so she is frequently painting weddings in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, New Jersey, upstate New York, Massachusetts and Cape Cod. This year she has started painting more in Boston and has been receiving requests for travel throughout the United States as well. Mo is willing to travel any distance to be there for your wedding day. Every Wedding Someone Asks If They Can Watch You Paint, Can They? One of the incredible things about live wedding painting is that it’s an opportunity for people to experience a painting coming to life. It is something that not many people can experience and it offers a “peek behind the scenes”. At every wedding, Mo meets guests who have a deep appreciation for art- these are usually the guests Mo spends the most time with as she paints and shares some of her techniques with them. Many of these guests share how much they loved learning, or that they have been inspired to get into painting. While these conversations can be brief, they are a part of the experience that adds a distinctive layer to a couple's special day. How Much Does A Live Wedding Painting Cost? Live wedding paintings have a large range of pricing across the board, Mo offers three different packages for couples so they can choose the size painting and budget that works best for them, the only difference between her three packages is the size of the painting. Every live wedding painting is a finished work of fine art that is treated with the same amount of love and care as the next. Live wedding paintings are custom framed according to your aesthetic and arrive ready for you to hang on your wall. Selecting the perfect live wedding painting size involves more than a one-size-fits-all solution. Every engaged couple seeking their ideal live wedding painting faces unique circumstances and budget considerations. As an artist, I take joy in assisting couples in determining the optimal size for their live wedding painting, offering three distinct packages, each receiving the same dedication and attention during the creative process, differing only in size. To guide you in choosing the right live wedding painting, start by considering the space where you plan to display it. Utilize painter’s tape to map out the frame size, accounting for the added dimensions from custom framing. For instance, the entry-level size, known as the ‘Silver package,’ comes with a frame size of about 17x21 inches. This is ideal for smaller spaces or if you intend to incorporate it into a gallery wall featuring your cherished wedding photos. The ‘Gold package,’ my most popular style, transforms into a captivating centerpiece when gracefully hung over a mantle. Meanwhile, the ‘Platinum package,’ the largest live wedding painting option, serves as a striking feature piece in more spacious settings. Now, let’s delve into the details of each package: Silver Package: Perfect for intimate spaces or those planning a gallery wall, the Silver package offers a custom-framed live wedding painting. The frame, measuring approximately 17x21 inches, adds dimension and elegance to your chosen space. Gold Package: The Gold package, favored by many, takes center stage when displayed over a mantle. Its size and allure make it an ideal choice for creating a focal point in your wedding display. Platinum Package: For those with expansive spaces, the Platinum package is the pinnacle of live wedding paintings. Its grandeur makes it the perfect feature piece, commanding attention and adding a touch of opulence to larger spaces. Choosing the right live wedding painting size involves a thoughtful consideration of your space, style, and preferences. Whether you envision a subtle addition or a grand focal point, there’s a perfect size for every couple. As a New England-based artist specializing in live wedding paintings, I understand the significance of capturing the essence of your special day. Each stroke is a testament to the unique love story unfolding, creating a timeless piece of art that transcends the moment. In conclusion, finding the best live wedding painting for you involves exploring the dimensions, considering your space, and embracing the artistic possibilities. Finding the perfect clients is a little bit like finding the right partner, you just know, and it just feels right. I met them at a wedding Expo where they saw one of my live wedding paintings on display. When we spoke later, and ultimately booked my services they had expressed that they were interested in a similar pose to what they saw on display at the Expo.
When I paint a wedding, or any scene I’m drawn to real moments. I get excited to paint what my couples show me about themselves, and their unique love story. Sometimes I can see it in a moment where they look at each other, and other times I can see it in the way their holding hands. Every couple is unique, and everyone has their own love story. Fast forward to their wedding day and everything about the Wadsworth Mansion in Connecticut is beautiful, the couple looks beautiful and the whole day is playing out perfectly. The scene that I am there to paint is a posed moment on the stairs, but the couple had already expressed that they trusted my judgement and they are most interested in getting a beautiful painting. Their first look happens, and it’s as if the world had stopped. The sun came out at that exact moment, and a beam of light was passing through the room right where they were standing. I grabbed my camera and started to take reference photos; in my heart I knew that this moment was perfect. After their first look, I posed my couple for a more formal shoot, I wanted to make sure I had ample reference to work from and that I had explored every possible option including the pose that we originally thought would be the winner. To be perfectly honest, the photos I took of them were beautiful, but I just knew it didn’t feel “right,” the staircase didn’t have any natural light and ultimately the magic was missing. When I looked back over my camera roll, I knew I had to paint that perfect moment from their first look. I was so excited when Sandy and Shane agreed, here is their final live wedding painting |
